Getting ready: set and setting before breathwork

Preparation before deep breathwork, a clinical session you've already been accepted for, or an altered state of consciousness.

Somatic Preparation & Harm Reduction

Who This Protocol Is Built For

Entering an altered state of consciousness, whether through intensive breathwork or a clinical session you have already been accepted into—demands more than mental intention. It requires a regulated, resilient nervous system capable of holding intense emotional and physical processing without dropping into overwhelm.

This preparation work provides a grounded, body-based framework to help you build capacity, clarify your set and setting, and structure your post-experience integration before you begin.

What We Work On

Preparation is not about controlling or scripting the experience; it is about building the physiological container to meet whatever arises with stability and agency.

What We Work On

1. Capacity Over Scripting

You cannot script or predict an altered-state experience. Rather than trying to control what comes up, we focus on expanding your nervous system’s capacity to meet intensity with physical stability, agency, and presence.

2. Intentions Under Intensity

Cognitive goals often collapse under physical intensity. We translate your intellectual intentions into simple physical practices and sensory anchors that keep you connected to your body when analytical thinking recedes.

3. The Integration Runway

The biggest gap in transformative work is what happens the Monday after. We design your integration runway before your experience—structuring your calendar, setting boundary expectations, and establishing daily down-regulation habits so your insights actually carry over into daily life.

How It Works

  • Set & Setting Review: Mapping your current stress levels, environment, and physical baseline so you enter your session feeling grounded and prepared.

  • Somatic Down-Regulation: Learning practical breath, sensory, and nervous system techniques to help your body settle before and after deep work.

  • Post-Session Structuring: Establishing a clear, low-stimulation plan for the 7 to 14 days following your experience.

Clear Boundaries & Scope

To ensure complete transparency and professional standard:

  • Educational & Somatic Coaching: Sessions focus strictly on personal preparation, somatic grounding, and integration. They do not constitute medical advice, psychiatric diagnosis, or psychotherapy.

  • No Substances or Facilitation: I do not supply, administer, source, facilitate, or refer clients to illegal substances or unapproved practices.

  • Sober Environment: All sessions are conducted strictly sober.

  • Independent Clinical Care: Clients attending clinical protocols must maintain direct oversight with their own medical or psychological care providers.

Prepare Your Container

If you have an upcoming breathwork session or clinical protocol scheduled, let's ensure your nervous system and schedule are ready for it.
